It's Not All Dark Yet

I'm ba-a-a-a-a-a-ck! Yup! We finally got the home computer debugged and running again. Then we got through Christmas and New Years, which was followed immediately by a bout of strep throat for yours truly. That was fun. Oh, and along the way, I became a grandpa. Number 2 Son and his wife had a daughter - my first grandchild. And there was much rejoicing - yeay. So, now I'm back in fighting form and ready to pontificate once more on all that I see going on about me. And the main thing I see going on about me is trouble. Trouble everywhere. World economies in the doldrums, governments in crises, unemployment, poverty, unrest, crime, revolution, wars and rumors of wars. Ya gotta look hard to find something good. Ya gotta get down and look among the weeds growing in the pavement cracks to find the tiny little flowers growing there. Things like my new grandchild. What a miracle that is. And me a grandpa. In all of my wildest imaginings, that's something I simply hadn't factored into the equation. So the world is stumbling from one disaster to another. But children are still being born. That means there's still hope for the future. Cuz children grow up to become adults, and someday they may come up with the solutions to the problems that we can't fix today. Who knows when the next great world leaders will appear on the scene and finally manage to bring some sanity back to the world. Could be tomorrow, or next year. Could be one of our children. Or one of our grandchildren. So, the miracle of life goes on amidst the tumult of crisis and war and revolution and economic collapse. And that's a bright light of hope shining in the darkness of despair.
