Yeah, hurricane. Uh-huh. Well, from what I hear it really messed up some other places. Flooding, trees through houses, homes washed off beaches. But here? Not much here. A little wind. Some branches down in the yard. One old, dead tree fell across the road. The city had it sawed up before we even knew it was down. Rain? Didn't get much of that either. I'm listening to the news right now, and they're talking about the numbers of dead, the total damages, the widespread power outages. And I'm wondering what happened here. Our power didn't even go out. Not even for a few seconds. Nothing. In fact, truth be told, this storm was not nearly as bad here as the big storms this past spring that spawned tornadoes all over western Massachusetts. Now that storm was scary! This one? Not so much. Why? Well, the storm passed quite a ways west of us, along the New York-Mass state line. So we really didn't get much wind or rain. But they got hammered over to the west and to the south. The other reason? Well, I believe in the power of prayer, and there were a lot of folks around here praying for a miracle. And we got one. Of course, perhaps you don't believe in miracles or the sheltering hand of the Lord. Maybe you prefer scientific explanations of wind patterns and pressures cells and all that sort of thing. That's okay. It makes no nevermind to me. I believe in it. And I believe he spared us from the worst of the storm. After all, He is the master of wind and wave and storm too.
